Hospice
When I was 13, I was with my dad as he died. I’m still integrating that experience, but for all the pain of loss that accompanied it, there is just as much wonder and awe that came along too. I’ve always been fascinated with death and dying, and wrote my master’s thesis on Chinese medicine at end of life. Since 2024 I’ve been treating hospice patients in partnership with the organization Housecall Providers. I also see private hospice patients in their homes or care facilities.
I use very gentle acupuncture, acupressure, and Shonishin techniques to provide comfort and ease the heart. These treatments can be helpful in the months leading up to death, offering opportunities to feel relaxed in the body, respite from pain and other symptoms, and a space for the recipient to contact the subtler elements of the end-of-life process, if they so choose. Treatments can also benefit those who are actively dying, by collaborating with the body’s guiding intelligence to unfold the process and move through sticking points. Call me if you have questions or would like to schedule.
I consider it an enormous privilege to accompany people in this way, and though I don’t have any testimonials from hospice patients (because they are busy enough already), my first beloved human who I treated at end-of-life nicknamed me Saint V of the Magical Jabs. I share that title with you in humility and humor, and work everyday to deserve it.
